SAVE MONEY SHAVING

The economy seems to have improved a bit, yet we are still broke! Every little amount of pennies we save means the world to us. In my never-ending mission to save money, I have discovered a way to be more economical and get a better shave.

For Christmas, my wife gave me a double-edged razor, along with the brush, soap, and blades. You must be thinking, "How is that economical?" Let me explain:

• She bought every item from eBay. All together, she spent around $50 (which includes the stand, safety razor, blades, cream x 2, and the brush).
• The razor she bought me is a Gillette razor from the 1960's. If its been around for that long, and still looks brand new, then it will more than likely last another 50 years.
• The blades come in 10-packs, and cost, on average, $5.
• Each blade lasts 2-3 shaves.
• The lather soap costs a little more, but it's not necessary. You can use the same shaving cream you use now. From what I've read, though, the soap my wife bought can last up to a year, and only cost her $15.

I switched from a Gillette Fusion, which cost me $15 for a 4-pack of refill blades. I actually would forgo shaving for a few days to use less blades. Not wanting to compromise for a worse shave, my double-edge razor was a great gift.

Check eBay and Google shopping for the best deals.

Take my word for it: you will get the best shave of your life with a double-edge razor. If you have ever gotten a shave from the barbershop with a straight-edge razor, you already know the feeling. As an added bonus, I feel like I'm saving the environment, too. Gillette's Fusion blades come with excessive plastic rubbish, as the double-edge blades come in a small cardboard backed package, so I can recycle it.
